Hi everyone

I've got a bit of a tricky case to cool and could do with some help.

I use a Jonsbo UMX 4 Pro, which looks great but is really challenging to keep cool, as the front is a solid sheet of aluminium (so no front intake).

(not mine, but you get the idea)

Through a lot of trial and error, I've discovered that the best setup is:
  • 2x 120mm fans in the bottom as intakes (feeding the GPU),
  • 120mm rear intake (so the CPU isn't just cooled with recycled air from the GPU),
  • a top-mounted H100i as an exhaust.
The PSU is mounted at the front top, and is also exhausting air for what it's worth.

I've tried a tower cooler for the CPU, but that pushed case temps through the roof.

I've gone with Noctua NF-S12B redux PWM fans for the intakes (the 1200rpm version). All the fans have dust filters and the case is on carpet. CPU temps are absolutely fine (it's a stock 3700x, so a 240mm radiator is overkill anyway), but the GPU can still get a bit warm.

I suspect the problem is the dust filters, which have to stay. Does the NF-S12B play nicely with dust filters, or should I look for something else? I want to keep the noise down, so I'd prefer something <18dB. Would the Silent Wings 3 be a better bet?

Thanks!

Honestly pal, just get anything that's in budget and quiet. If it was a CPU cooler or radiator fan then that can make a impact (of sorts) but case fans are pretty much all the same.

I think using your rear fan as an intake is good way to go, I have to do the same on my 700D so cool air can go straight to the radiator.

Otherwise i'm exhausting some mildly warm case air/motherboard components instead helping to cool GPU and CPU in the loop.

There's more than enough for the passively cooled mobo parts.

Got bottom fan set to intake too.

Top is exhaust, heat rises obviously and exhausting in the same direction seems sensical.

Wouldn't the h100i be better at the bottom, pulling cold air directly onto the radiator, and thus leaving better airflow at the top of case making getting the hot air out easier,

whats in behind the SSD holder, looks like a lot of unused space? if so some diy mastery could drill holes in the rear casing and then get an additional 120mm rear exhaust
