Was a bit indecisive as to whether to put this in Cooling or here, but seeing as I'll be doing some fan mods if no one can get a good answer to this, it'll be a good place to put this as I may have to ask for advice on that!

Basically here's the thing, I'm currently in the process of getting everything together for a new build (Spec so far is in the sig) but the other day when hot wiring my PSU to listen to the case fans I thought they might be slightly to loud, so going to hunt around for solutions as quiet as possible.

Before anyone says it, I know the 480 is a beast for noise, but I may be fitting an after market cooler to that anyway.

Now the K62 comes with a 120mm exhaust at the back and 3x140mm, (2 exhaust on top, 1 in on the front). Currently all the 140mm are blue LED's as well.

I'm really looking for ideas on replacement fans for the current ones in there. For the 120mm I'll probably get something as quiet as possible, and probably non-LED as that one not being LED doesn't bother me too much. So any suggestions on that would be nice?

Now the real issue here is the 140mm's.

I'm looking for something as quiet as possible, with a reasonable air flow, that has some LED's.

I don't however want too many LED's, as I don't want something too bright. I'm kind of thinking along the lines of 4 LED's, so unfortunately rules out most of Enermax's offerings because they're just too bright.

LED colour is an interesting one at the moment, I still haven't decided what colour to have the fans, so I'm open to opinions on this one. I should say I'll probably be putting some white light cathodes into the case to draw attention to components though, as I believe white light is hugely understated. Again this is a reason why I don't want too bright LED's in the fans as I don't want to overpower the White light.

So yeah, what can people suggest?

I do realise OCUK's stock off 140mm fans is fairly limited, so if anyone has any genius ideas that they can't link to for competitor rules, feel free to link to the manufacturers site and I'll have a hunt around.

I should say that failing to find a solution here, I'll basically be buying some silent 140mm fans and doing a small mod myself to add LED's to them. But if people can give me ideas for pre-done ones it would save me lots of hassle! :D

Thanks for reading

120mm = Akasa Apache's or Vipers
140mm = Xigmatek XLF-F1455 140mm LED Fan (Sadly not on OCUK anymore, I remember 3BB0 using them in his custom build.)

EDIT: They are all very quiet and have every good airflow. If you want optimal control over noise and airflow though, buy a fan controller.

Look up the Bitfenix Spectre range. They come in several colours/LEDs, and push enough air for quite low noise. Brilliant value too, tbh.

Had forgotten about a Fan controller as a solution. May well be a good solution rather than modding all the fans myself!

Yeah I'd had a look at Bitfenix Spectre, and was definitely a consideration I was thinking about :)

the apache is a reasonably quiet fan with decent airflow and the enermax cluster offers very similar airflow with slightly less noise and you can switch the led's off.

the viper is in no way a quiet fan, i have one on my zalman cnps 10 flex and am about to replace it as its too loud so there is really no point buying it over an apache as it is basically the same fan with with higher rpm so if your going to reduce its speed to quieten it you may as well get the apache.

i use these 140mm's in my lian li pc-a70 and i find them a good compromise between noise and airflow - http://www.akasa.com.tw/update.php?...=Fans&type_sub=Ultra Quiet Fan&model=AK-195BL

Check your bios you should be able to undervolt at least 2 x chassis fans if connected to the board.

The bitfenix spectres are a very quiet 140mm led fan, i tried two of them in my a70f, very subtle led lighting on them. I would have stuck with them but due to using sli gpu's, i went back to some old 140mm yate loons that pushed a bit more air towards the gpu's.
