Can I get some help on cooling fans please i bought some rgb prism antec fans ( they are terrible you have to piggy back them on splitters) so I am basically looking to replace these what I want I can’t find so might not exist?

I want a fan controller which I can connect normal fans to, don’t have to be rgb fans I’m happy enough to go with white fans similar to the ones that came with my Corsair cooler something like those. I want the fan controller to be universal ... have say 6-8 fans connected to it and also to control the fan speed without messing around in bios.

thanks

Thinking Arctic case fan hub pwm with Arctic P12 pwm fans do we think this will play nice together?

Lamptron are a good name in fan controllers.
Most of them come with 4 channels, though some have six, but you'll still need to use splitter cables. However, you can run up to 30w per channel - In my case my FC6 can run about 40 fans.

If you prefer, Aquacomputer's Octo will run 8 fans without needing a splitter (or loads more, if you do use a splitter). You can control them with Windows software, no need for messing in BIOS.

Crikey Aquacomputer's Octo is £50 just for the controller eeekkk ... I was looking into arctic controller which is £10 for the controller and then getting some pwm fans to suit i would link it all in here but don't think i can because its from the rainforest but basically the case fan hub supports PWM and the fans are PWM artic p12 so im thinking it should work nicely?

That still takes its PWM signal off the motherboard CPU_Fan header, though, which means either messing around in the BIOS or finding some other software to run it, no?

Yeah I think it will plug into a PWM port on the motherboard. I think they is a asus fan speed software you can use but again no idea how to go on with it.

The Aquero does look a great bit of kit but could do without spending £50 on just that right now with 3080 coming next couple week. I may take a chance on that arctic one it looks good and gets good reviews so im hoping it will do the trick!

A word of warning - A lot of people have had trouble from using Asus Fan Xpert, myself included. That's why I got Aquacomputer's Octo (they do a cheaper Quadro as well, by the way).
IMO, you'd be better off with any other software, especially if you're fairly new to messing around with settings and stuff. Fan Xpert likes to really muck about with your system.
Probably give that a miss then! how do people get on then just buy fans and hook each one to a 4 pin slot on there motherboard?

Is this the one dude?

does say RGB though im not really arsed about RGB I wouldnt mind those arctic fans the tranparant and white ones p12's

with the controller above then will it work of this sofware you are talking about ?

thanks

Some do. Some run several fans off a single header using splitter cables, for when you need more fans than you have headers, but not every header can handle that... that's where fan hubs and fan controllers come in.

Nope.
I had this one:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/b-grade-lamptron-fc6-5.25-bay-fan-controller-black-bg-000-lp.html
Needs no software, just requires splitter cables for the fans. I generally group mine into individual channels, so the front fans will be on Ch1, the top exhausts will be on Ch2, the rear exhaust on Ch3, and so on...

Lamptron make various different models, though.

The one you linked will work, but if you don't want to use the BIOS you'll still need some other software to go with it.
A lot of people use SpeedFan (free), while others use Argus Monitor (costs money).

Right ok so I could use this :

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aqua...p-to-9-fans-or-aquabus-devices-bb-004-aq.html

or the arctic hub and get the arctic fans I wanted and then use the speedfan software?

I suppose with the power from powersupply going to these hubs thats why you can run more fans from a single pwm header?

If i just use splitters I suppose only 2 fans per pwm header then?

I honestly think ive looked into this to much and completely confused myself my last build was 15 years ago and im sure i just ran them all from the ports but cable management was not a thing back then lmao

Thanks

Yes to both.
I only suggested the Octo because you wanted to avoid messing around in BIOS.

With the Arctic one, yes.
The Splitty is still using the fan header for power, though, so is limited to whatever maximum current that header can supply. Your Mobo apparently supplies 1A and a P12 fan draws 0.08A, so you should be able to run about 12 fans off the one CPU_Fan header.

No, you wanted 6-8 fans and the Splitty does 9. You can have one fan on each header, if you like. No need for splitting at all.

Ok dude thanks a lot for your help I will have a think now which would be best way around it braided splitter cables or just go for a powered hub thanks
