Hi guys, just completing my spec for an i7 build.
I don't upgrade often, just get a nice powerful system, overclock it a bit, then leave it alone for a few years.
So far it's:
:: i7 920, with a Noctua NH-U12P sitting on top of it
:: Biostar X58 ...or maybe a DFI (not quite finalised)
:: Radeon 4870 1gb and a Radeon 4830 512mb .... never game on it or Crossfire, but need to drive 4 monitors so two graphics cards.
:: And 4 Samsung F1's in RAID10 (I think that's the right RAID anyway)
:: Power is coming from a Be Quiet.

Now, the case, I can't believe the amount of choices, pretty much narrowed it down to:
Akasa Eclipse or Mirage
or
stump up some extra cash for a Lian Li A71 or V1110 (which I particularly like the look of.)

Biggest factor is noise - I'd really like it to be as quiet as possible. And I'd rather not have difficulty fitting in the four hard drives... along with dvd burner of course.

Any advice really appreciated, you guys are the experts!
Drumm.

Eclipse is a great case and fantastic value for money - you can fit 4 drives in the lower cage, any more and you'll need 3.5' adaptors to fit in the front bays. Noise is okay especially if you buy some dampening material to line the case.

The A71 is quite a bit bigger than the Eclipse so that is a major step up. You'll have a lot more room for disks. I've just moved from an Eclipse to a Lian-li v1000z and although it is smaller, the disk cages are fantastic and you can really comfortably fit in 6 disks. Based on that I would say that given your spec you'd be better off with the Lian-li as the Eclipse will be pretty much max'd out with your 4 disks. But it is much bigger and the cost difference is significant.

P.S - RAID 10 needs a minimum of 6 disks so I guess you're not using that level of RAID.

Thanks for the reply Gazza, suspected the Eclipse might be a squeeze.
Will stump for a Lian Li then.... total £ keeps creeping higher! :)
RAID ... no have that wrong, whichever version is striped and mirrored, maybe it's 01 or something - figure that out when I get the goods!
Thanks again.
