As the title says i'm after investing in a case for around £100, i really hate glowing fans, case windows and all that gubbins so all i want is a nice, sturdy, spacious case with good cooling and ideally relatively pretty to look at but ultimately plain. I've only recently invested in a cheaper case (the Antec 300) and frankly i'm not a fan, it rattles, it hums and it just generally makes loads of noise so i'm after something of a much greater build quality, i'm really focusing on keeping it as quiet as possible while still keeping good airflow.

At present i've got my eye on the Antec P183, are there any massive flaws in this case i don't know of? Are there any better cases for the same price point?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Keep the 300, invest in noise dampening and a decent set of fans (Eg. not the stock Antec ones).

Cut up a mousepad and put it between the fans and the case itself, then it should help the noise issue. The noisiest thing then will be either the hard drive or the optical drive, repeat the above step as necessary :p

To be honest i'm utterly fed up with the 300, i've already replaced all but the big fan on top with silent fans which has helped true and i've used some of those rubber mounting pins instead of screws to cut down the vibration, but the plastic fascia on the front of the case still sometimes emits a very loud buzzing noise thanks to the vibration of the fans.

I'm also beginning to run out of space in the case so a bigger one wouldn't hurt :p

Get the Fractal Design R2, also comes in different colours if you like.
Build quality is top & very quiet case too.

I'd be looking at one of the Antec P series. The only one I have first hand experience of is the mini P180 but I'm very impressed with it, far superior build quality relative to the Antec 300 which is basically made out of foil. I've just read through the positive review of the P183 on spcr and can't see a single flaw with it.

Actually that's not quite true, I'd look elsewhere if considering water cooling.

Good feedback so far guys so cheers, that fractal case has more of the 'look' that i'm after but apparently isn't built quite as well as the P183, argh decisions decisions.

build quality of the fractal is massive i have had no problems with mine in the slightest
and it looks awesome aswell if i was you i go fractal only problem is that they are getting more in in like january ro somethign so you owuld have to wait till then

Went from a Lian Li PC-P60 (£160 on OcUK) to a Fractal Design R2 (£85) and consider it an extremely satisfying improvement.

My main reason for change was also lights and noise, both of which the R2 doesn't punch you in the face with.
