Hey guys,

I currently play console games mostly due to the fact that I prefer sitting on the sofa rather than hunched over a desk. I've been toying with the idea of moving my PC from my room to beside my TV so that I get the best of both worlds, graphics and comfort wise.

Today I moved it into my lounge, but found that the size of my case was a little too big for my liking. Problem is, the case isn't that big to start with (its a Xigmatek Asgard), so I'm wanting to go as small as I can, but maintain decent power and performance.

I've spotted the Fractal Design Core 1000 case, which looks pretty nice, but I'm not sure just how much difference it will be in size compared to my Asgard? I understand it will require changing motherboards as well since its Micro ATX.

My current specs are:

Xigmatek Asgard
i5 2500k
Coolermaster Hyper 212+ Cooler
Asrock Extreme 4 Gen 3 (Z68).
Radeon 6950 2GB
Antec TruePower New 750w
4GB DDR3
Crucial M4 64GB (used for OS)
Samsung F3 500GB (games etc)

Basically I want to keep everything that I possibly can. As far as I can see, everything will work in the Core 1000 case, apart from the motherboard. I've been looking at the Gigabyte Z77M-D3H motherboard as a replacement. I'm not really into watercooling and getting the absolute highest OC on anything, so I think that motherboard should be ok?

TL;DR = Want the smallest case to house as much of my current components as possible, all within a small budget.

Cheers

The fractal is about 3/4 the depth of your asgard but not a great deal smaller in the other dimensions.

You could maybe go for a large media case, provided the 212 will fit

Yea I was thinking that could be the case.

I've actually just tried slotting the Asgard into my TV unit on its side and it does surprisingly fit. Just about.

I don't think heat would actually be affected too much since there is open space at the front for intake and the back would be either removed or have a very large hole cut in it for outtake and cables. Looks a bit weird sitting on its side, but could be an option since I'm not wanting to spend too much if anything at all.
