I have been thinking about buying a new case and the Corsair 650D has caught my eye.

It is a lot of money though and as the only thing I dont like about my current case is the inside (silver metal colour/poor cable management/etc) I have been thinking about modding it a little. I am still happy with the outside of it.

I have been wanting to do a little case modding for a while (and if I buy the corsair none will be needed) I might try painting the inside matt black and cutting out some holes for cable management.

I am guessing I can just go to a hardware store to buy paint right? Or is there any special PC paint I need?? :)

I also want to make the window panel a bit larger, is this also a case of going to a hardware store for some perplex?

Cheers

Yeah you can use normal spray paint that can buy in DIY stores, if your spraying bare metal then make sure you use a self etching primer first.

I personally brought my perspex online but some DIY stores may sell it also.

The word 'cutting' caught my attention in your topic...
How do you cut a window in side panel?
I was thinking about that for my Corsair 200R, but I have no idea where to start.

Can you recommend some good screw/bolts for the job if you made your own window?

Also, did you use some u-bend?

I actually glued mine in place with clear silicone sealant, it gives a nice clean look from the outside.

I think some black M3 socket cap or allen key screws would look awesome if you wanted to screw it in place.

Yeah I used U-Channel ;)

Was it difficult to get it to stick? My case already has screw holes so was gunna use them. Could cut around them too though.

U-Channel sorry :)

No, not really. I applied a small amount of silicone sealant around the edge of the cut, placed the acrylic on top, weighted it down with some books and an hour later it was stuck solid.

If your case already has screw holes then it might be easier to just use those.

The place I order my acrylic from will drill holes in the acrylic for you for a small fee, so all you'd have to then do is screw the acrylic in place.

If you'd like to know where I get my acrylic from send me a PM (Don't want to mention it here incase I break the forum rules).
