Hi,

I have aquired a very old Gateway 2000 PC case. All is not bad though, as its an absolute monster of a case (full tower size). Heres some details about it:

ATX Form factor
7x 3.5" internal bays
4x5.25" external bays
1x3.5" external bays.

Heres some pics:

Im just after some modding suggestions really. Im thinking of cutting the side for a window, and covering some of the front fascia with mesh and adding some cold cathodes in the case. I also might change the power and reset switches over. Im also going to spray it, not decided on a colour yet.

All views greatly appreciated!

I should have really given my PC details too:

AMD Opty 144
Abit Fata1ity AN8
3x 250GB SATAII Hard Drives
Pioneer DVDRW (Silver At the moment)
Fan controller
Floppy
Arctic Cooler Pro 64
1x120mm+1x80mm Fans (I have 2x120mm and 1x80mm spare)
OCZ 520W Modular With Blue LED Fan

I might also contemplate water cooling in the future.

Cheers

Spray it black  and black inside, then mirror polish the mobo tray and yer rockin. The mesh sounds good.

i have a case what im about to customise aswell,
well two cases, im customising my thermaltake armour,

but i have a akasa 62 are they called? cant remember,
im going to mesh the sidepanel, red outside, and verry bright white on the inside, cause the mobo is a sapphire crossfire mobo which is white and allso two ati x1900xt-x's which are red, and then red neons and LEDS would light the white paint up beautyfully :)

The good thing about the case is that the two hard drives bays are removable, which gives a lot of extra room to work with. Sadly I cant remove the bar across the middle as its riveted in place. Not sure if drilling them out would make a difference, will have to look at that. I think im also going to put castors on it as well, might light up the underneath too! The only annoying thing is that the side panels are one big wrap around piece of metal (from 1 side to the top to the other side).

Yeah, I was think about maybe creating a hole or two on the front for some intake fans. Not sure about the top yet as I may get water cooling later on, so might mount a radiator to it or something similar.

Hi mark,

What is the best method for getting a mirror polish out of the tray? I think its steel not aluminium as the case weighs an absolute tonne!
