I used to do a lot of case modding a few years back, played with a few cool things and had some fun! Back in the day when case modding meant, home made LED fans, soldering, cutting, drilling, and getting an LCD to work was a programming and planning nightmare!

Im now in a position where I can start to fiddle about again, and wanted to know what was going on in the case modding world that was not 4/5 years ago.

I am not sure i want to mess with my CM210 anymore, but i would quite like a new project to fiddle with in the winter!!

Give me inspiration :D Show me your new ideas and things you have innovated!

adapting cases for watercooling, themed cases, airbrushing, anodising, powdercoating, etching, different window designs, just a few of the many things that are happening :)

EDIT:

My etching on the side of my case, window to be done this week, followed by airbrushing next pay day :)

Nothing new then :(

I had a watercooling setup which was bodged together using a motorcycle radiator, an aquarium pump and surgical tubing! The only thing i bought was the block! I did buy an acrylic tube res after a while though..

Bleddyn, who is also on these forums used to make his own water-blocks..

It would seem things have stalled somewhat :( I dont know what i was expecting, but everyong just seems to buy cool case gear and its pre-made and sort of defeats the object of doing it.

I'm making a case out of an old VCR but I'm only using the metal top (now bottom) and the front of the VCR. The top of the new case and the rear will be all perspex. Inside the case will be a PC built of my old parts and some new bits like a PSU and CPU that I don't have. There'll also be an xbox (upgrading to a 360 when I have money). It took a lot of working out to fit the two motherboards, 2 DVD drives and 2 PSUs into the VCR case. The VCR case is low so one half of the perspex will be raised up in a curve to accomodate the PCI cards and PSU. I've got some nice curved designs in my head for the perspex that I'm looking forward to seeing.

The really nice part will be that the CPU fan and the two DVD drives will all be visible through the perspex so if they were all running at once there'd be three spinning things to see below the perspex top. The CPU fan (AK955 I think) will be able to draw air straight in from the outside too. The motherboard is a large ATX style, a good 2-3cm wider then my P5N-E Sli too so the case will accomodate any ATX board as well as 3 possible harddrives 2 of which I'll be using at first.

I've uncovered the two DVD drives and pared down the sides to let them fit side by side in as little room as possible.

i think it was pulse but he suggested i put a fish tank inside my case and cut a window out.

could be something random you could do if you bought a old server case.

This idea was floated (ahem) before, but it would be pretty cruel to any fish you had, as they would be living in a temperature fluctuating environment.

A side panel with a water filled window with a bubble pump was done once..
