Hello,

Well I always wanted a proper case as my el cheapo 15€ case just annoyed me, but past week I've been playing some music without running my pc and it was much better, because my pc is usually loud as hell... Part of this problem is caused that I have no sidewall on my cheap case but even with it on it still makes a fair bit of noise, also I can't put it on properly as I have 2 hdd's next to my case ( case to small). Also have a lot of old cheap 80mm fans... Around the 22nd I should get my wage and be able to spend some money on silence...

So I'm looking for a case which must have :
1: good anti dust design, eg. just 1 air inlet which is filtered.
2: Spacious, part of my problem is that my gfx card is so long I can't put a hdd in one of my hdd slots, because the gfx card stretches into the hdd slot. Also got 2 hdd's out of my case, so the case would have to be able to support at least 6 hdd's, preferably 7 or more as I want to buy a 7th hdd very soon. Don't want an inverted case like some lian li as I have a heatpipe motherboard which supposedly doesn't work too well when inverted.
3: Sound dampening options: Thick sidewalls, rubbers at the sealings, rubbers for hdds ? etcetc?

If above 3 are all well : As cheap as possible: I don't really care about looks, as long as it looks ''ok'', I'd prefer a ''clean'' look this time but I don't want to spend any extra money on looks, I'm looking purely for the best function. Even 60 quid would already be a massive amount for me to spend on a pc case.

Any suggestions

From the listed reuirements I do not think you will get one for £60.

Personally I can vouch for the the P182 being virtually dustproof, quiet (if you invest in some fans), very spacious and well built.

I think maybe you should start with a good case, then add silencing options as you go when the dosh is available.

the Antec 300 will take 6 hard drives in the 3.5" bays and at least a couple more in the 5.25" bays. No rubbers I'm afraid but presumably you could add those later? It's very quiet and you can have upto 4 12cm fans inside + 1 14cm. The front is filtered too.
It's not the best case in the world but it's good value at £50.

Well built is not a problem really, for all I know it could be made of rusting iron with sharp angles everywhere, as long as it's silent, spacious and has room for a dust filter.

I find it odd though, I have a perfectly usable case for 15€, it's just a bit too small for my liking and aside that it would be fine with some basic messing about ( eg. buying a dust filter and gluing it to the front inlet), why are ''good'' cases so expensive, it are sheets of metal with holes in em .

Do you have 7 harddrives, or need space for 7 because of your GPU?

I have 6 hdd's now, want room for 7 or more. My case would take 8 hdd's if I include the floppy bays but one slot is rendered useless by my gfx card and the other is hard to reach would have to put my mainboard out and in again to use it, and the final one is kind of double used by one of my hdd's as I couldn't be bothered screwing it properly. I could easily fit 3 more hdd's in my dvd bays though with suspension rubbers.

The antec 300 looks terrible for silence tbh, massive front inlets, a side inlet, and 2 outlets, that's too much tbh, too much holes for the sound to travel through. I'm looking for a case with just space for 2 12cm fans, one inlet 1 outlet, any more holes would let through way too much sound imo.

Tbh reading your reply's being pessimistic about my budget, I'm thinking of not bothering with a new case and simply buy a few tools to make my own case to my liking, sure I can't make it bigger/cleaner inside, but I can always add dust filters, rubbers, seal any excessive holes, replace the fans and mount my 2 hdd's inside with some rubbers. If I have to spend like 100 to get a normal case just so it's a little easier to work with once in a while I think it's not worth it.
