Is it possible to buy the part on the back of a pc case separately, the part im on about is the housing off the expansion slots and i/o plate, im not after the name of a competitor just the name of the plate if it has 1?

Maybe i need to clear my post abit, im not after the i/o plate that comes with a motherboard but rather the bit that u fit the i/o plate into(which is basicly the back of a pc case) see what going on is i want to build a case and was wondering if u can buy the bit that houses the i/o plate and the expansion slots on the back instead of making 1.

I just did a quick search and couldn't find anywhere obvious. I'm sure with a bit more effort something would probably turn up. But there is another option. You could look around for a cheap basic case with a removable tray and just throw the rest away. A second hand one would be cheap.

Beaten to it, just buy a cheapy case with a removeable mobo tray.

Ditch the case, keep the tray. Nice and simple.

Anyone know of any cases that are usually cheap that have a removable tray, not after a competitor just a make and model of case. All the ones that spring to mind are a little to expensive to buy and bin!

that would be the cheapest way to do it - it wont take a lot to strip a case down to just thte mobo tray!
