I have a thermaltake shark case which I've had for about 1 yr. Up to now I've been very happy with it but now I have an issue. I think the power button at the front may be broken. I have power to the motherboard (green power LED on) but when I try and power on I have to press a number of times. The PC "tries" to power on but immediately switches off. Initially, continued presses would finally work. Then things worsened and I had to hold the power button in and then use the on off switch on my power supply to get things going. Once it was up and running everything was fine. I could reset either from within windows or using the reset button. However tonight nothing is happening :( Does this sound like an issue with the power on button. If so can it be repaired or will I need a new case?

Try switching the Reset and Power headers on the mobo

Most likely, check your motherboard manual and connect them up as shown.

If that doesnt work, try jump starting it with a screw driver but we can go through that bit if needed.

I actually meant to swap them and try using the reset button as a power button to see if it is the button at fault.

thanks guys. Tried swapping the reset and power buttons but still no joy. The fans start to spin for a miilisecond and then it all shuts down.

How do I use a screwdriver?

Good answer skippi90 re the screwdriver :) What I should have said was how do you jump start a pc with a screwdriver?

if you look on the motherboard where the power button connects there should be a row of pins. if you connect 2 of them together with a screw driver it will cause a circuit and you pc will power on. it basically does what the switch does.
