A few years ago expensive cases (anything costing as much, if not more than, the motherboard) were a rarity. Where they did exist there was at least some justification.
What happened? Really standard cases are now demanding stupid amounts of money.
For an example take the Corsair 400R which appears to cost a relatively cheap £80.
As I see it this willingness to pay over the top prices for standard products has driven the prices of the real premium cases into the stratosphere.

- It’s basically made of steel and plastic, neither of which are particularly expensive materials.
- It has no special features to demand a premium.
- It includes some fans, but everyone will delight in immediately replacing them.
As I see it this willingness to pay over the top prices for standard products has driven the prices of the real premium cases into the stratosphere.
