The motherboard on my 2 year old shuttle has died and it would be atleast £150 to replease so even tho i love having such a small case i've decided that i am going to sell the case + mobo + psu on ebay to anyone that wants to repair it or have it for parts and put the rest of my kit into a full case.

Before it died the system was;
Shuttle SN95G5 v1.2
AMD 64 3500+
2x512MB Crosair 3200 XMS PRO XL
Connect3D ATI X800Pro
74GB WD Raptor
250GB WD
SB Audigy 2

The question is what else to buy,
Case: should be full atx but must be as small as posible, good quality and stylish (no windows, flashing lights or tacky bits), good cooling and low noise would also be a bonus.

PSU + Motherboard: i wouldnt know one from the next so whatever you guys recomend to go with my stuff and is good stuff!

Do i need to upgrade anything else while im doing this lot?
maybe a new graphics card was i was thinkning about getting a 24" monitor?
Is upgrading the best way to do it or should i sell the whole lot and start a new rig?
i mainly use my PC for online poker, movies, music, uni work which is CAD + office, web and a bit of gaming now and again.

I dont have a set budget so just reasonable good quality stuff.

thanks for the advice,
Dave

The case isn't tremendously small but it is high quality along with the rest of the selection. The motherboard is passively cooled so silent to all intents and purposes, the graphics card will run most things at a good speed even on a 24" monitor :)

CA-027-AN Antec SLK3000B Midi Tower Case - No PSU (CA-027-AN)
£27.95 £27.95
CA-008-TG Tagan TG530-U15 530W ATX2.01 Easycon SLi Compliant Modular Silent PSU (CA-008-TG)
£61.95 £61.95
MB-040-GI Gigabyte K8N SLi nForce4 SLi (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-040-GI)
£49.95 £49.95
GX-121-SP Sapphire ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-121-SP)
£159.95 £159.95

Thats a nice spec' but to be honest unless your hurting for it don't upgrade the graphics just yet. The x800 has plenty of life left in it.

The x800 wont cope on the 24" monitor and I assume its AGP meaning that Asrock dual is the only choice really. The resale value for the x800 should be quite high on the bay as well.

Yeah but the Asrock isnt a bad board and he hasn't got the 24" monitor just yet has he.

I'd be inclined to get the Asrock Dual motherboard and then upgrade your graphics when you upgrade your monitor.

my mum got wind that i was upgrading and has informed me that i WILL  be giving my X800pro to my little sister.

so, how about;

Silverstone Sugo SG01 Aluminium Mini PC - Black, I love the look and size of it and it seems to have very good build quality. I think i new Evolution version has just been released.

FoxConn 6150K8MA-8EKRS seems to get good reviews in this thread. Plus with it having 3 PCI slots i can get a dual slot graphics card and still have 2 slots left for TV card and sound card.

SilverStone NT03 for cooling

then i could still go for the;
CA-008-TG Tagan TG530-U15 530W ATX2.01 Easycon SLi Compliant Modular Silent PSU (CA-008-TG)
£61.95 £61.95

GX-121-SP Sapphire ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-121-SP)
£159.95 £159.95

as said by semi-pro waster if you guys think thats a good gfx card?

this would leave me with a nice little system. With the gfx card and cpu do you think i should be looking at getting 2GB of RAM in there?

Most of the above things are good, that PSU and gfx card are very nice but that Silverstone NT03 looks pretty rubbish to me, it has 2x60mm fans which dont push much air at all and will be very noisy, I would get a Scythe Ninja if you can afford it or an Arctic Freezer 64 pro for less.
I havent heard much about that motherboard but it should be fine.
With the silverstone things may get a little toasty, do you really want a small case?

EDIT: Dont think the ninja or arctic freezer 64 will fit in the sugo

I'd take the following and wrap it in a Lian Li V600 coat. About the smallest, decently cooled, ATX case available. You'll have to shop around for the V600 though. I almost specced a PC7 but they are not that small.

MB-129-AS Asus A8R-MVP Crossfire (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-129-AS)
£59.95 £59.95
GX-121-SP Sapphire ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-121-SP)
£159.95 £159.95
CA-007-TG Tagan TG430-U15 430W ATX2.01 Easycon SLi Compliant Modular Silent PSU (CA-007-TG)
£46.95 £46.95
Subtotal £266.85
Shipping (City Link Parcel Next Day (Delivered Mon-Fri)) £8.95
VAT £48.27
Total £324.07

Nice spec BigDom but I'd be tempted to go for a slightly beefier PSU.
No need whatsoever..

I run exactly that PSU with both the spec's in my sig.

Over 400W is only needed when you really start pushing things... Water cooling pumps, SLI/Crossfire Rigs, multiple processors etc.

For a SFF system with that hardware you could run it on 350W probably ( can definatly run it on 350W with a X850XT as I do on another system).
