However in the manual it says they are an 'Upgrade' bit annoying as this isn’t clearly stated on the box or anywhere for that matter.

Feeling stupid here, the case DOES have the LED Strips built in, which are so well built in you can't see them until they are switched on I was being a complete fool and forgot to connect the SATA Power cable for the LED Strips, connected it up and hoorah! we have light... Total noob moment
