Hi, I've had the below spec recommended from the general hardware section but I'd like to replace the case. I want a case that doing to last for years so I don't mind a costly investment. My main criteria is that it must be a gaming case with plenty of cooling and upgradability for additional fans. I'll be playing games and doing video rendering so cooling and the look must be exceptional. If there are any side fans it must be on the left hand side due to my system position. And as I say, I want it to look the dogs nuts! It got to be a case when you look at it it defines "The Case". Imagine Porche 911 - GT3 of gaming cases but under £150.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, its not really floating my boat, if you know what I mean! Nice florescent inside but dull looking on the outside, no disrespect. And the vent window is on the wrong side.

i'm guessing when you say that is a dull looking case you're after something poorly made, tacky and well ***......"gamer cases"

something like:

it's horrible i know lol.

I think the thermaltake cases my suit your needs. They are certaintly not dull looking and keep the insides cool :)

How about the Silverstone TJ-09?

I'm in the exact same position as you. At first, i thought the Lian Li and Silverstone cases looks too dull, boring and were too classical in style. I then started looking at the Stacker 830 cases. But, i've grown to dislike these more and more; meanwhile, i'm beginning to adore the look of the Lian Li V1000 and PC-A16 (that one not so much) and the Silverstone TJ-09. I just think you should give them a chance.

By the way, that Thermaltake case is ok. The build quality is no where near the standard of Lian Li and Silverstone counter-parts, though.

Thanks for your comments Mansize, but looking at the Silverstone TJ-09, its square and boring! Sorry but again it looks like a Modeo with a Porche engine. Is there no one that does designer cases?

Now thats looking a bit more likie it. I love the 830 Silver rather than the Black. I would love the see some purple against the silver and Red against the black. I like the style, its a bit more futuristic and I do like the PSU at the top rather than the bottom. Feed me......

"designer" cases...by most peoples accounts, thats what lian-lis are...but if you want the other kind of designer your leaning more towards the tacky cheap, poor quality plastic jobs similar to that in nicks post

or buy a nice shiny lian li and get it powder coated for extra £££ if the colour is your problem

how about one of those funky cube case things....or that washing machine sized mozart tx?

There's two things I love, my PC's and my Cars. When I get in my car I know its the dogs nuts, and it turns heads, I just want the same for my PC, thats all. I think I kniw what I have to do. I'm going to customer my existing case. It's brushed aluminium, so does anyone know what paint I can use to cover it, primer and top coat.

Its a Global WIN i bought from OC about three years ago. Its brushed aluminium with a clear/blue perspex front. The fans on the side and back are designed for PIII but I recon with a bit of cutting here and there I could upgrade it, but I'd rather just get new.

And what car would that be?!? :o

I am of the opinion that computer cases should look like fine pieces of furniture or perhaps high-end audio equipment. I don't want to see cheap plastic. I don't want blinking flashy lights. I want it to look classy and understated. If you search my threads you'll see the buildup I did documenting my move into a V1000+II in silver. You might want to see if that looks any better to you.

As far as the Stacker 830/832 is concerned, it's a good case but is not worth the money. Its design, IMO is tacky and cheap looking; far too cheap looking for a case that costs so much. It's a good cooler but there are better cooling cases available for far less money.

Anything from Silverstone or Lian-Li would probably be a good bet; high build quality, classy looks, and solid engineering.

How about a Kandalf? It's a little flashier than the Lian-Lis and is still a pretty good case.

See a Lian-Li or Silverstone in the flesh, and they look the dogs. As above, look at expensive hi-fi equipment, looks simple, but awesome.

Once you touch them, you KNOW theyre quality, solid inside, nothing to cut you etc.

Get a cheap case (£5 competitor special) and then you will know a bad case ;)

This is a quality, overpriced case, with a garish look to it, maybe its the sort of thing your after ?

IMO Lian-Li is the epitome of a "designer" case

Yeh, the Antec does look a nice case, but mirror finish! Like the comments say, you'll spend most of your time wiping it clean.

I'm going to the Computer Fair tomorrow at Trentham Gardens so I'll be looking at the Lian Li cases based on so many recommendations. Like you are saying its better to look classy than tacky. Thanks everyone.
