My mate just got a 5970 through the door, he invited me over to fit it for him. before i seen the card out of the box, i seen his case and went " it wont fit". its just a small branded pc which can just fit his 260gtx :( its like a small factor case. Anyways, he has £150 to spend on a case.

I recommended the Silverstone RV02, antec 1200 and for a extra £20 he could go for the Lian Li PC-P60B. Im not 100% sure these case fit it tho :\

His motherboard is quite new, it can support the card and so can his power supply. Just the case.

What do you recommend? Cheaper the better.

PS - Hes stupid.

akasa omega
akasa eclipse

cases come and go this one remains fitting everything, most people hate them though no idea why they look much better in the flesh.

An antec p183 or silverstone fortress or Lian Li PC-A70 would be fine too as the hdd sections can be removed / one section used only which leaves a gap where the gpu goes.
All comes down to taste really but imo the best cases are the ones that allow you to remove / move hdd chassis/bays around.

Can imagine that card being as long as the case... although it's really not that long, just 310mm.

Easy guideline is that if case supports E-ATX motherboard then it supports any possible PCI(e) card.

RV02 is just somewhat above ATX sized and I've read talk about long card possibly hitting to intake fan's mesh in RV02 and can well see this card doing that.

Overhyped 1200 is nowhere big enough to have working space with even older long cards, competing CM HAF again is E-ATX sized and even cheaper. Also while not having big enough tray for E-ATX motherboard CM Storm Sniper looks well big enough.

While being E-ATX case that's about only positive thing in design of PC-P60, PSU is in thermally worst place, intake fans sandwhiched between meshes on both sides and you can't access any 5.25" device without leaving case airflow to shoulders of exhaust fans (with top fan just distracting airflow) and long cards hindering access to HDDs.
Instead of that from Lian Li you should be looking at A70, it's design is thermally working and long cards won't block access to anything.

thanks for the replys! i think hes going to goto the thermatake speedo. I would have went for this case myself, reason i didnt was because i was only recommended it once. It seems quite popular now!
