Hi guys,

I need some advice revamping my old Lian Li PC-60 aluminium box.

I'm in the process building an i5 2500k system, likely with the ASRock Z68 Pro 3 and a GTX 560Ti Twin FrozR II

The case used to have 80mm fans which I ripped out for another system years ago.

I have access to a design workshop and (with a pack of beer) some very skilled blokes who can cut holes in practically anything. I'm planning the following operation to get this case up to scratch:

  • Remove the front USB ports at the base (I have a 3.5" card reader & USB ports on it)
  • Remove the bottom drive bay
  • Cut a large hole in the front panel to fit a 120mm intake fan, as long as the mount points will fit
  • Cut out a hole for a 120mm fan at the top of the case
  • If space allows, cut out a hole for a 120mm fan at the back. This will interfere with the removable motherboard tray & one of the hollow two piece case supports.

The planned setup is:

It's been a long time since I've done any sort of modding or PC building myself. In your expert opinion will this be enough to cool the setup and allow a little overclocking?

What fans would you guys recommend? I have about £10~ per fan

I was thinking of the Akasa AK-FN059 120mm Ultra Quiet Viper while they're on offer?
