Case seems to be shorting out - where to look?

Hi.

I moved my system to a Thermaltake Versa H15. It worked for a day and then I opened the side to reconnect a Linux SSD and then it would not turn on. I tried shorting the jumpers on the motherboard - no joy. I tried another PSU just to rule out it wasn't faulty - still no joy.

In desperation I move everything to another case, a Phantek P300, and it worked first time.

Does this indicate a short somewhere in the Thermaltake and if so where would it be in the case?

I think its more likely that something was loose and the simple process of moving everything from one case to another fixed the problem. Try moving it back again!

I found the issue. It was a bust USB 3 port on the front of the case. One of the pins is bent touching the socket. As soon as you connect the front USB 3 connector to the MOBO is does not boot.

Two Thermaltake Versa H15 cases with QC issues in a row. The first one had a crinkled side panel where the screws go through meaning that the side panel would not close properly.
