case standards

I once saw a superb CNC Machined case on the extreme systems forums made out of aluminium/steel/perspex.
Out of curiosity, which machines do you build? Im a programmer/setter myself.

The basic dimensions are about 146 mm width x 41.3 mm height for the faceplate of an optical drive that fits in a 5.25" external bay. I've been going blind staring at this screen for an hour looking for a technical drawing depicting an optical drive for the purpose of locating the relevant dimensions for the side mounting screws.

Made this in my final year of 6thform, has space for 2 3fan rads although they would have to be quite thin (30mm, or mounted internally with fans pushing air instead of pulling)

Stole a drivecage from a shuttle to cut down on build time and unfortunately the motherboard fitted is shorter than atx (not the full depth) so I'd have to do some reworking to use it with a modern system.

2 sheets of acrylic held together and bent round using an acrylic triangle frame, then a motherboard tray on drawer runners in the middle

Looks very nice Steeps but I can't help getting the impression your PCI devices are about to fall out. Are they held in with anything?
