case stripping

Seems like a bit of a noobish question but i have seen quite a few build logs on here where people have had there case powder coated, sprayed etc. and i have always wondered how to strip a case down fully into its separate parts, and then reassembled. Are any special tools, materials needed to do this?

drill out the rivets
get the treatment done
Rivet the case back together OR bolt it together, most people use M3 bolts
