Case Suggestions - Need more space!

Hi folks,

I am looking to upgrade my current case, which is the CoolerMaster HAF 912 to something that offers a bit more space inside. It's done the job very well for the past 2+ years, but I've just got the Arctic Accelero Xtreme IV for my Radeon R9 290, and I can't see any configuration that will allow me to fit this inside the HAF 912.

There's either not enough space "lengthwise" before I hit the HDD bays or (if I remove them to make space) I don't have the space above and below the card to fit the fans/heatsinks (it will either hit the large CPU cooler, or the PSU at the bottom of the case).

So I am after some suggestions for a new case which will allow me to fit a large card + the Accelero cooler with plenty of room to spare. Perhaps even the option to add a second one at a later date. My current system is all air-cooled, so not too worried about water-cooling specific cases. I don't want anything HUGE though. As close to the size of the Coolermaster HAF 912 as possible would be ideal. Also, I am not looking to break the bank either .. £100 or less would be what I am after.

Hope that all makes sense, it's surprisingly hard to find specific posts about cases that will handle this cooler on what's already a very large GFX card.

Thanks very much!
Ori

Thanks for the response!

I can stretch a bit over budget if it's worth it, so I won't discount the more expensive option.

The Fractal one does look quite nice, I like the minimalist style, but it's does worry me that most of them say "Ready for dispatch in 1-2 months"! As you said though, the reviews so seem very positive for a relatively cheap case.

I'll keep investigating! Cheers!

Liking it even more after that review. Looks like it will do everything I need.

Looks like the ones with windows haven't been released yet, which might explain the wait times shown. Looks like 13th Jan is listed as a date for those to be available. Not too fussed about the window to be honest these days .. although it is nice :)

Cheers!

I was thinking more of the H630, its the H440, with 2 external 5.25, currently on offer

Oooh, that's a good shout too. The lack of optical bays was the one thing that worried me a bit about the H440. I rarely use it these days .. but you never know (things like OS installations etc).

Thanks for all the help so far. Definitely have a short-list now!!

Well...I went with the R5 without a window in the end, should be here in a few days.

I like the way there seems to be a bit more space round the back to hide the cables compared to the H440/630. I have the same problem with my HAF 912 where I haved so much squeezed behind there that it can be hard to get the side cover back on!

I'll let you know how it goes, thanks again!

Just as a little update. The R5 arrived and I moved into it yesterday.

Pretty simple process, very well designed inside and gave me the additional space I needed without the case being significantly larger than the old one.

Much quieter too (although I did replace the GPU cooler), I think the fan noise that I do hear is mostly the PSU as my CPU and GPU are both virtually silent.

Anyway, happy with my choice. Thanks again for the suggestions!
Cheers, Ori

I bought the Panteks pro, but still thinking about in the near future for R5, not sure, depends if my phanteks doesnt live up to my silencing needs :P

For what it's worth, I have the H440 and don't miss optical bays one bit. You don't even need a DVD drive for OS installation these days, can all be done via USB stick... but a cheap external USB DVD writer is always an option as well.
