Hi

been doing some googling on a new case as I am on the road to Broadwell and also read a few new case threads on here but nothing seems to hit the spot.
I like the look of the Corsair ones with the good airflow and cable management but the ones I liked have a roof mesh which I dont want.
So any ideas for a sub £100 case with good cable management, no roof fans/mesh, dust filters on at least the front fans and good airflow ?

I just switched from a Carbide 540 to a Fractal Define R4. Very, VERY impressed! Pretty much silent with great airflow when required. I have 2x140mm at front, 1x140mm on the bottom and my H75 on push/pull exhausting at the back :D Love it

Can be had for around £68 :)

thanks for the suggestions I did look at that but I notice its got roof mounts do these have dust filters ?
I suppose I could always block them up. The Arc XL is too large I've also got a certain set of dimensions.
OCUK dont sell the Fractal cases which to say they are popular is a bit strange. I have found it locally for £78 though. They have also got the window and white version too.

Does anyone have an opinion with the Cooler Master 690 III as I notice it comes with an AIO Water cooler for £80 ?

The R4 has the roof fans blocked as standard, you can remove these and put fans in if you wish.
Front and bottom dust filters too.
I have the non windowed version, very quiet and an excellent case to build in as far as Air is concerned, no idea on Water.

I believe OCUK do not stock them due to quality issues from a few years back, can't see this myself though.

yeah but they are not set in stone but I should have mentioned I wanted a midi not full tower.
So far the R4 seems to be the most likely I spent ages looking at them last night and it has the added bonus I can pick one up locally for £78.
I was nearly swayed by the CM690 III with AIO Water cooler included for £88 but I think Bickaxe has made my mind up, many thanks everyone.

From what I've read on these forums and my own opinion, its a fantastic case.
I had particular needs for a case and it fulfilled them all. There are probably other options out there but I can't comment on those (A silenced 540 would be awesome if it had dust filters too)

R4 If you have quite a few HDD's the mounting for the hard drives isn't all that great as it causes the case to make some terrible noises.

You could get something like the Corsair 500R and block off the mesh in the removable top panel. This would give you bags of free space up top to run even more cables, install lights, put in spare drives and loads more.

Just to clarify the "quality issue" that caused OcUK to stop stocking the Fractal cases was due to high return rate from customers, because of the inadequate protection of the cases' boxes cause the cases getting damaged during transit and arrived broken despite being new in the box.

If you are picking one up locally, it "might" worth you opening it on the spot to check nothing is broken before taking the case away, rather than chancing it, and may be getting into the situation of having to bring a broken case back to the store and get into an argument with the seller.

I've got two fractal R4s and both have quality problems with missing/damaged paint in numerous areas, the side panels in particular. Not a shipping issue either, just poor paint quality.

Nice case otherwise but wouldn't bother again.

Whereabouts is the paint damaged/missing ?

Bought the R4 today still in box but will inspect it. Sales guy even said it was the best case he ever owned too so there seems to be a lot of love for it.

The first one had missing paint on all 4 corners of one side panel. The second had missing areas of paint along the edges of a side panel.

Both have had paint come off when screws are removed.

Checked my case and its fine, its the Titanium colour one. Can't see how it could get scratched etc its in the same polystyrene packing that most cases are in and is quite thick.

Looks like the panels were damaged before assembly as the main case is undamaged. Both of mine are black and the paint comes off easily, hopefully yours is better. Even taking the screws off the side panels off to mount fans and some paint comes off.
