Hey guys currently ive got an NZXT H440 and the rest of the components you can see in my sig.. ive searched a lot around the internet and found that many people have the same problem as me, although its a very aesthetically pleasing case, the airflow is very restricted, ive counteracted this by taking the front panel off whenever im gaming as this helps airflow and cools it down a hell of a lot!

my question..

is there a case i can switch to with far better airflow than my current case, basically another guy said this about the h440 on a different forum and it pretty much concludes exactly what my same setup does..

'I have exactly the same problem. I have a 4790k and 980Ti in my H440 and get 40+°C in idle and upto 80 under load.. Its the case I think :/'

I've got the NZXT Phantom 410 - nice case and the airflow is amazing (at least that's what I think).

You can fit: 2 front fans, 1 side, 1 rear and two top. All are pretty much unrestricted.

what sort of temps do you get on your phantom for the CPU and GPU under load? and idle? if you don't mind me asking and what are you using?

I do find my MSI HD 7970 TwinFrozr III OC Boost Edition can run hot in the H440 v2 but it has a lousy cooler and will replace with an aio to silence it, you could look into an aio for the 980ti as an option?

If you wanted to keep the H440, I know i'm very happy with my white V2 version, check this thread out on reddit for Fan selection may help to solve some issues you have with the cooling. Some reviewers found a twin tower cooler worked better in the case like the Noctua nh-d15 than an aio for the cpu.

At max load I got 80 for GPU and 48 for CPU.

Idle I'm getting 31 GPU and 15 CPU.

Bear in mind I don't have the maximum fans, only 4 right now. You've reminded me that I need to order two more soon.

Edit: FX-8350 and GTX 970

I dont see problems in those temps. i dont know what you expect to achieve with new case. Get few good fans for front intake and problem solved.
Those problems that you speak off, are problems that serious overclockers get when they push hardware to the limit. And your cpu sits at 48.

Remove the mesh strips from the front and top panels to drops temps a couple of C.

Getting rid of the dust filter helps too. Sometimes when gaming I open the right hand side of the front panel and leave it at a slight angle.

I'd be pretty happy with those idle temps tbh. Put your gpu on 100% fan speed whilst gaming and see if it makes a difference
