Since adding the PSU and 980Ti, the CPU is regularly hitting 65 - 70C in BF4 and other intensive games.
My previous 7950 had an exhaust blower but the 980Ti is dumping most heat into the case.

I've bought some Gelid Extreme paste to apply to the CPU cooler, but what else can I do to improve the temps?

Yeah, that's normal for the MSI Gaming 980Ti. I've set up a custom fan curve in afterburner and it helped a lot.

The custom PCB cards do dump more heat into the case than the reference blower types.

He's saying that his CPU is getting to those temps which does seem high. It might have something to do with the amount of heat getting dumped into the case by the GPU, though.

Adding a fan to the bottom of the case may help if you have space for one.

Have a custom profile in afterburner to control the 980ti and happy with the cooling vs noise performance with that, but the CPU temp is higher than I'd expect for that cooler..

Oops, misread the OP. I agree that's on the high side.

If the GPU is dumping a load of heat into the case then it'll bring up the ambient temperature and reduce the efficiency of the CPU cooler.

As Superpatsy says, try adding more fans if you have room.

You can get another fan in the roof (might be 2, I have an R4 case too but I'm too lazy to look).
Another fan on the bottom of the case too.

It is a warm case

Just taken off the heatsink to give it some compressed air and to apply the new paste.

Noticed one of the fans was pointing the wrong way  hopefully a combination of the new paste and two fans working together might bring the temps down a bit.
