Here is an interesting one for you all...

I built my new PC and got it all working (Spec in sig), then last night I thought, hmmm I will tidy the case up and get some cable ties in there to keep the main cables out of the way to improve airflow etc.

Duly did so. PC was dead. No cables had become unplugged and the 12v ATX plugs etc were all still firmly in place.

Removed the cable ties and unplugged everything from the motherboard and left for 10 mins.

Plugged it all back in and it would fire up but not POST. Repeated the above and it then POST'ed.

Any ideas on what went wrong? The case is not too untidy but it is not as tidy as I would like it. Certainly not tidy enough to post a pic on here ;)

Just don't want to go through the sickly thoughts that I had last night about RMA's etc when it all went wrong!

You probably caused a short somewhere. Could be that you put too much pressure on something like the 24pin ATX cable, which in turn can cause the board to warp a little.

To be honest, with cable tidying, you really need to remove all the cables and start from scratch, planning and tidying as you go.

Cheers Diggsy, you are probably correct, I did strap the cables pretty tight out of the way. It looked pretty tidy too, until it did not even turn on :(

Still it all works now, a bit messy but it works and that is all that matters for now.

Maybe when i have more time I will as you say, start from scratch and strip it all out and re do it.
