Hello people,

I am soon wanting to build a PC and initially I was thinking of going with the Dark Base 700 from BE Quiet. But then I decided to go for the Haf 700 Evo, but having second thoughs now as its too big to be honest. One of my main priorities is to have the latest and fastest I/O ports at the front of the case...

Which other cases have 3.2 Gen 2 Type C and 3.2 Gen 2 Type A Ports on front panel apart from the two above cases?

I did think about the 011 Dynamic Evo and the Hyte Y60, however these both don't have both 3.2 gen 2 type A and C ports on the front I/O, or have one and not the other....furthermore I ruled out the Hyte due to no full PCIE slots etc.

Please advise of any pc cases which meet the above requierments, I most likly will be building a Ryzen 9 7900 with X670E Hero board.....and CORSAIR iCUE H170i ELITE CAPELLIX 360.

What speed would USB 3.0 Type A be?

Am I right in thinking these are the transfer speeds for:-

USB TYPE A 3.0 is 5Gb/S
USB TYPE A 3.1 Gen 1 is 10 Gb/S

USB TYPE C 3.1 Gen 1 is 10 Gb/S
USB TYPE c 3.2 Gen 2 is 20GB/S

The I/O Specs of the cases I'm intrested in are below. o11 dynamic evo is out the question as it only has usb Type C 3.1.

For the other three....what is the difference between Type A 3.2 Gen 1, 3.2 Gen 1 (3.0) and 3.0? Is Darkbase 700 and Haf 700 Evo the same or differnet?

If its just the connecter shape they wouldn't confuse it all with all the numbers......? They probably have differnet pin layouts or more/less pins?

Darkbase 700
1x Type C 3.2 Gen 2
2x Type A 3.2 Gen 1

Haf 700 Evo
1x TYPE C 3.2 Gen 2
4x Type A 3.2 Gen 1 (3.0)

Hyte Y60
1x Type C 3.2 Gen 2
2x Type A 3.0

o11 Dynamic Evo
1x USB Type C 3.1
2x USB Type A 3.0

Usb 3.0 and 3.1 were renamed and absorbed into specs of 3.2 as the gen 1 and gen 2 suffixes.

Yes it's a mess. All the cases you've listed above have the same compatibility.

USB 3.2 gen 1 Type A === USB 3.0
USB 3.2 gen 2 Type C === USB 3.1 Type C

No extra pins, a plug is a plug (ignoring the old old USB 2.0 4-pin Type A plugs).

It's all down to protocols.

Thanks for the help.....I think you are probably right....I will probably go for the o11 dynamic evo, if not then the Haf 700 Evo if I can find it cheap....

I decided to go with Lian Li o11 dynamic evo, but i have a question, do the ports support 60w charging?

I will be using x670e hero and dark power pro 12 psu.

Will I need to connect the 6 pin connector on the motherboard under the 24 pin so the usb ports charge if the case supports it? and if so what is that cable called as I want to buy a white cable to match the asthetics.

I probably sound stupid! :)

Thanks,

the port will charge even if the 6 pin isnt connected
though i didnt test the actual difference
from my last build to new build
last without 6 pin connected and new with it connected
there may also be a bios and/or windows setting to configure
as wall charging my s8 ultra gets super fast charging
and shows 1 hour 8 minutes to full
front usb-c port shows fast charging and 1 hour 42 minutes to full
011d xl case and crosshair viii extreme board

Thanks for info, and yes my current 15 year old pc even charges, but very very slow. I read something somewhere about 60w charging, I think that was on the Haf 700 Evo case though........am I right the ports have nothing to do with the charging capabilities and its down to motherboard? Corsair probably using the 60w charging capabilities thing as marketing......

Did you configure anything in bios/windows when you setup your new build with the 6 pin connected? As I though it would just be a case of plugin in cable...? Also what is the 6 pin cable called please? I was thinking of getting a white one, but now thinking of it, might leave it as standard black in the white case, as i will have a 24pin lian li strimmer next to it, so it might look a bit odd in white, even though the case is white?

I'd be careful when charging via front port, as the front panel cables are probably very thin, might melt or burn out....? I've asked overclockers through a support ticket, see what they come back with?

Did you update your bios on your X670E Hero? My motherboard has come with an old bios, do you have to use a usb 2 drive to update bios? How did you update the bios?
