I know I have had a thread here before.

But I want to finalize if you like. Basically I want a case that has the following:

- Cool
- Silent
- Stylish (Nice looking)
- Good fans (e.g helps prevent dust (filters etc) )
- Efficient
- Spacious (components have air to breath)

Optional

- Windowed (Not 100% needed but would be cool, even some blue led's.)

Also I don't want it to be tacky, and it has to be durable.

I have looked at several cases. So far the Soprano was the one im after, but I do want to know from others what they think and what cases.

PS (Don't all say the Lian LI PC7.) Variety is good :).

Base it on what I've said.

I have built a system with the Soprano case and it is definatley one I would reccomend :)

Although I am no expert with cases, I would reccomend the Antec P180 if you are looking for silence.

Chris.

Another vote for the eclipse - or the mirage if you prefer a door.

Wont be disapointed.

So you like the look of it or something else ?

i'll second that. much nicer looking that the dirty old Akasa Eclipse

I prefer the PC7 myself aswell, I think the Eclipse is ugly, but they both get highly pimped here so it's only fair to mention them both really.

Nah its not that, its just no offence, the case tech heads are either "Lian LI PC7" or "Eclipse".

Let me tell you why the Soprano caught my eye, it was either the Soprano or the Tsunami, which would you reconmend? Right now I have an aluminium mini case, but its too small and things are cramper.

So the Soprano/Tsunami caught my eye due to the fact its a nice size, toolless. It has a stylish looking side window, side fan etc. It has good cooling and something that I do need which it has is fan filters, it has good dust preventation. I hate dust.

Anyway a side window is nice, and I do need good cooling thats for sure, also I need fans, especially filtered fans so I don't have dust issues. Also Blue LEDs are good. So you could say I like the enthusiast case as well as a very good case.

So whats the main difference between the Soprano and the Tsunami other than the Tsunami is alluminium.

Yeah I do like the Eclipse but its a bit pricey. It just adds up because I need to buy a few other things as well, like a Harddrive etc.

Anyone got pictures of theirs modded?

In what way?

It looks the sex stock.

It has fan filters on the front 120mm and on the rear 120mm., and they do trap a fair amount of dust, but they do also let some through...there is dust on my CPU cooler, but not much.

Well do you have pictures of your case?

Yeah, sure here are some...

Mine isn't modded...well techincally it is...it has Ambers instead of stock fans, and I used Acousti Fanmounts aswell.

Ive had the smaller Lian Li cases then moved to the pc75 case , but id reccomend the v1000 case if you can grab one , i have two, they are well made ,let everyting run cool and have 120mm fans on them for good airflow

Pictures wont do the Lian Li justice at all, got to be seen in the flesh for the brushing.

The Eclipse and PC7+II get mentioned so much as they are in a league of their own, so nothing to compete with those two really.

Tooless features usually fall off or are complete rubbish, I do not even bother trying them anymore and just bin them if I can remove them.

If I can not remove the 'easy fittings' then I break them off and bodge a screw into the case. :)

Nothing easy about plastic clips to hold your cards in, it only takes what 10 seconds for a good old screw.

Which case do you reconmend out of those then?

I was also looking at this other case which is £35, its steel and I've had one before. Its a nice case, nice and big, roomy, side fans, not toolless.

Its not here though its sold by a computer shop near me, they are good cases yeah, only problem was dust.

So also, what is the best fans on OcUK to get, side fans etc that have filters and will stop dust or stop the majority of dust getting in. Blue LED would be pretty cool also.

Also whats the best lighting, I wanted blue lighting so the inside of the case would be blue. How does it function as well? e.g where does it plug into to give it the neon light source?

I know I've gone off topic slightly lol.

Akasa Eclipse.

It hits every point you have mentioned with ease.
The only thing you don't seem keen on is the looks, trust me, just like the Lian Li, it looks much better in the flesh.
Although pretty much any photo you can find it looks better than the ones on the ocuk homepage.
Here's a piccy of mine:

Ya it does look good, but its costly. I was looking more around £50, as the Soprano or even the PC-7 fell under that price.

Oh yeah is there much difference between aluminium, plastic and steel. Performance wise.

Thermaltake Armor Junior looks pretty good.

Also whats your take on the Antec 900, OcUK seem to use it for many of their full PC's.

In terms of performance, I'd say no.
But the thing is plastic feels.... well like plastic.
Steel is heavy.
Aluminium is where its at :)

The Eclipse is the best case above £60 and under £100. It will either last you through several case upgrades or be very easy to sell if you want to.

Generally Lian Li, Silverstone and Akasa cases shift very quickly on Member's Market. Thermaltake are not so popular. That's no comment about them, it's just a fact. We 'Case Tech Heads' recommend the Lian Li PC7 and Akasa Eclipse because they are the best. They're not striking looking, no, but you'll never wake up one morning and think "Blow me! - Blue LED fans are just so passé" ;)
