Interesting development from the Chinese case makers - a lot of them lately started selling cases with integrated laptop LCD screens. E.g. http://www.lamptron.com/Products/HardwareMonitor/200.html - this one has one semi transparent screen on the side and a regular screen in the front.

If they put a touch screen and a pair of small speakers, one wouldn't need anything but a case to start using his newly built PC :)

Maybe this is what comes after the current RGB mania - displays everywhere.

This is fascinating, especially the semi transparent screen.

Very minority report esq.

I remember ages ago
Could get the transparent side panel screen pc
Project snowblind from ibuypower
Possible to make your own
Using a laptop or monitor screen
Think I preferred the transparent side panel screen
Though probably because where my pc sits
Can't see the front of it anyway

But does your case sit
Where you can see the front?

It's also possible to just use
An old android tablet
And stick it either inside the pc
Or as external display
I use an old 10 inch lenovo yoga
Got a nice metal kickstand built in
Ideal to use externally
Or fold it and put it inside the case
Can use it as a sensor panel
Or to play video/animation/mirror your desktop etc

What if you made the PC smaller so the display was taking up more of the real estate? And then it'd be more portable and you could use it anywhere without another screen. Maybe you could then add, I dunno, maybe a keyboard or even a track pad... maybe make the screen foldable to protect it. Nah it'd never work! ;)

I just stuck a small screen (1920x480) in my new build - basically because there was so much space at the top of the case (O11 Vision, mobo in low position) that it just looked barren! I didn't really want one, and don't really get it, but it does fill it out a bit. NO animations - THAT I really don't get, and you just know that these big screens are going to have the most nauseous animations on them for a lot of buyers! :p

They started as add-on like Thermaltake, much easier than the need to mod the case. Then included, like the Jonsbo D31/41.
Tried the D41, was cool, but not something I would say life changing.
For those who like to monitor their hardware or having some random animations playing, may be. Personally I do t spend much time looking inside the case, but some people do, hence the bloom in RGB fans, AIO with displays built on the pump block, now fans with displays, RGB cables, etc.
I am much more interested in cases that can conceal all cable, look as slick and clean as possible. Maybe the next trend of motherboards having their connectors at the back, a nice armor plate covering the whole motherboard, and every fan flush inside the case. An almost sealed box. Until then, rocking the Fractal North mesh as main rig.
But back to screens, the one supplied with the Jonsbo D31/41 is a quite decent screen, can be bought for 40ish quid, and easily adapted in most cases, but nowhere as impressive as an almost transparent screen.

Hello there. I'm just interested in what goes through your mind when you see walls of text. Why can't you write in sentences? Sorry if I come across as ignorant, I'm genuinely fascinated by people that don't fit social 'norms' Like people on the spectrum. Sorry if I'm being intrusive.

My NR200P MAX case now has a 7800X3D installed but my previous i7 12700K + Asrock eDP enabled motherboard combo was a perfect fit for the Asrock 13.3" LCD panel kit. Turns out in a pinch you can carry the case in padded bag + keyboard, mouse & headphones and turn it into a useable gaming system. No problem with temps using an RTX 4080.

I broke the screen recently when I took the side panel off and the LCD slide sideways out of the plastic rails. Partially leading me to blank it from my mind and order the AMD CPU instead BUT ....

The Asrock board with eDP port is now in a Lian Li case. I've ordered a £20 10" laptop screen for the front glass panel to check the 30 pin eDP connector is common across the AU Optronics screens used in the Asrock kit. The Asrock kit has a huge mark up and the exact screen is not readily available.
