My kind Mother has given me 2 x 500gr packs of casserole steak.

What can i do with it aside from the traditional casserole with veggies?

Have a good cupboard full of herbs/spices/dried things.

Here's the recipe I used for the last one I did, used lamb but beef will work just as well.

  • 800g Diced Lean Lamb Steak (I used 3 packs of Sainos stuff)
  • 1 Cup/300ml Water or Lamb Stock (600ml + 2 stock cubes)
  • 2 Small white onions finely chopped (2 and a half large ones)
  • 2 Teaspoons Ginger Puree (1 teaspoon, too much ginger in slow cookers overpowers EVERYTHING)
  • 2 Teaspoons Garlic Puree (3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped)
  • 200g Butter Ghee (Omitted, 'orrible stuff)
  • 1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (3 teaspoons, and a bit for luck)
  • 4 Teaspoons Mild Curry Powder (5 heaped teaspoons of hot curry powder)
  • 2 Teaspoons Chilli Powder (4 teaspoons of hot chilli powder)
  • 2 Teaspoons Garam Masala Powder (4 heaped teaspoons)
  • 2 Green Finger Chillies in thin slices including the seeds (3 bird eye chillis finely chopped, 1 large red medium sweet)
  • 1 Tin Chopped Tomatoes (2 cartons of)
  • 2 Tablespoons Tomato Puree (Best part of a tube lol)
In hindsight I'd just a 1/3 less stock and a little less chopped toms as I had loads of sauce left over.

Enjoy. :D

I like tomato!

Admittedly that's for a larger quantity, and produced waaaay too much sauce so definitely one to scale back if you're not as big a fan of tomato as I (I'd spread it on toast if the Mrs hadn't hidden the tube). :D
