I took this on Monday, I like it a lot but the sky is bleached. Ive played with it in paintshop but cant get it right. How do i fix the sky?

Also opinions on shot. Just got a D70 so new to all this.

One way to get the desired affect, in future, is to take two shots in quick succession. Expose one shot for the beach and the boat, and then without moving the camera, expose for the sky. Once back home, combine the two images and then you will have the right exposure for the whole shot.

As for editing that image, im not really very good at that yet as im fairly new to image editing as well. But in general, the whole shot looks slightly over exposed?

I think the first thing i would do is reduce the purple tint to the stones on the beach, up the contrast a tad and fiddle around with brightness. As for anything else, a more experianced member of the forums might be able to help you out.

Looks like you're stuck with the sky on this one Abe. The sky is over exposed or 'blown out'. This basically means that they sensor on the camera detected 100% white and therefore recorded no data. Since there is no data recorded alterations in Paintshop will have no effect unless you actually manually draw some detail in.

This is how I understand it anyway.

/edit

btw, that is a nice photo' (love the pebbles) and adding a colour cast may soften the sky.
