My wife likes the idea of playing a flight sim. She doesn't have a lot of experience and I was wondering if there was anything fairly casual on the PC? It doesn't need combat. Just something that is easy to fly. Any recommendations?

Maybe not the easiest game but something that I think is fairly easy to pick up is Microsoft Flight Simulator. Basically it's just a flying game as if you was flying a real airplane, no combat in the game at all.

It has a tutor in game too, so this allows you to basically be taught how to fly, you have a bit of reading but by the end of it it is worth while, as when you have finished reading for that lesson, you put that into the lesson and your tutor explains what he wants you to do and you follow his guidlines.

Once you have done that (Or you can skip that and go straight into it tbh, but at least a couple of lessons will explain some controlls) you can head into a proper flight, from Manchester to New York for example.

I would reccomend a joystick though, as using a keyboard is a bit tricky. If you want to know anything else then just let me know.

Yeah that one looks alright. It would probably be a good one for her to use actually as it has all the functions pre-configured for take off. Starting out though I would reccomend her to stay away from flying a plane like a Boeing, until she has a feel for the game at least.

As above fsx is great, start out with little single engine planes and work her way up. I started using an xbox pad, but my gf got me a cheap stick off ocuk and it is a lot more fun. It's good fun but gets better the more toy get into it. You'll want to read a few guides on tweaking it for your rig as its a bit of a beast to get running smoothly with all the add ons. There's a good thread on here to help you get started and to show you how sexy it can look too.

Wouldnt mind a casual flight sim myself. Just wasd controls and mouse to aim would be nice. Dont wana learn how to do it like a proper sim.

If you want something really casual there is a very basic flight sim built in to Google Earth ;)

Otherwise as others have said, FSX. It's probably easier to get in to than X-Plane and has loads of add-ons for new planes/scenery if you get hooked.
