Casual sniping gratification?

I'm unfortunately very pushed for time nowadays.

Can anyone recommend a game with satisfying sniper shooting gameplay?

I'd love to be able to put in a load of hours, but more realistically what what be good is something I can cheat and summon some suitable gun porn and mess around in a variety of enemy-rich, stunningly beautiful, open sandbox type set ups.

Anyone got any good suggestions? Thanks a lot.
 
Got to be ARMA 3 mate. The bullets are affected by wind, gravity and distance(strentgh of charge).
Plenty of mods out there for it, and plenty of player made missions all available via the steam workshop for easy install.

You can also use the inbuilt Zeus mission maker or download something like MCC which gives a lot more in depth.

Plenty of different maps available as well, so you'll never be bored, plus the majority of them are huge!
 
Its an older game but have a look into Joint Operations on steam. I often played a game solo against the bots with just a sniper rifle (the water fortress map I think its called) is a very good one to try.

I loved sniper elite 1 but the sequels never grabbed me personally - the inclusion of the "real" crosshair indicated by a red circle really killed it for me. I know they wanted realism but without teaching you how to judge distance/wind speed, it was frustratingly easy with it enabled, and impossible with it disabled. YMMV.
 
Arma 3 does not suit someone with limited time. I think sniper elite is more "jump on and shoot guys from far away" which I think is what the OP was after. Arma is definitely the better sim though.
 
Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I'll look into them. When I say "casual" I mean that I enjoyed sniping in Borderlands and Fallout! Nothing overly technical. I think I might have Farcry and not played it yet so that seems like a good shout...

Sniping is defined as shooting from a concealed location - how is that not applicable to Sniper Elite? :p
 
Sniper elite series is good for casual sniping.

I also enjoyed one of the Sniper Ghost Warrior games - its more arcadey, but beautiful landscapes and scenery, easy to pick up and play, nice if youre strapped for time.

I can also recommend the sniping in Hitman - Sapienza is gorgeous and some of the snip challenges are very satisfying and great fun.
 
GR Wildlands has some very nice sniping gameplay, how we did our main playthrough sniping from silly distances to not get detected.

This.

To one person it's using any long range rifle (scopes or not)to kill someone at any distance.

To others it's sitting waiting 3 days for that perfect shot.
