Cat 11.11

Wonder if they've fixed the "software update" problem with CCC, ever since I've started using CCC when I got my new graphics card, it always said I had the up to date version, tried last night when I was on 11.9 and it said the same, I had to download the auto-detect tool from AMD's website for it to recognise 11.11

I get the green graphical glitches and my cards run at just 60C under load with no overclock..???

Do the graphical glitches look like when a gfx card is overloaded to you, or a game engine problem?

What graphics card do you run?

I've heard that some graphics cards are a bit sketchy/on the limit right from factory.. have you tried Afterburner and tweaking maybe the voltage up a tiny bit and bumping up the fan profile (if it will allow you)

It might be that on stock voltage, it is set right on the limit, and with a taxing game like BF3 giving the card a workout, plus AMDs new 'optimized' *cough* drivers, the card is struggling with standard settings.

Makes no difference I'm afraid, wolvers.

Have gone back to 11.10 / CAP4 and BF3 is now running fine again...well, better than 11.11 at least.

It's so strange that we are both running 5850s. I can only think that you have something else installed that is causing some kind of conflict. Is there anything running on your system that has overlay/hardware control?

Edit; forgot to add that I haven't seen the green flashes since going to 11.11.........yet!

Those green flashes are still there I'am afraid :( This is a BF3 engine problem I would have thought.

This week have put my new i5 2500 and Asus P8z68 mobo together, using my 6950 toxics in crossfire, and went straight to these drivers with cap 1 for 11.11.

Everything running like an absolute dream that I have tried so far. With everything at stock is sooooo much smoother than my OCed i5 760, and while I have not played any game for very long, has all been stable so far, and not a hint of any stuttering which I was getting previously.

Well its nearly been a week since Skyrim was released and still no fix.

Also, purchased rage today, returning **** poor performance from that too.

Come on AMD, your making it hard for me too love you!

He's pretty good at choosing what he'll respond to. I tweeted him a few times since the 1st about F1 2011 for CrossFire poor performance and the fact when CrossFire is running, it reverts the game to DX9. Nothing. No response.

What bad things would happen if I was to use this CAP with the 11.9 drivers?

Running great on my 5970 5870 tri-fire set up.

Well happy.

2x AA
Textures high
shadows high
HBAO off
motion blur off

All other settings Ultra.

Never drops below 80-90 fps.....max 200

With those fps why not have them on?

I think my next card with probably be Nvidia, I've got two 6970 in CFX and 95% of the time it just doesn't work, driver support is a shambles and most of the time I'm having to disable CFX to get acceptable game performance :(

I just don't have to time to mess around any more, when I buy a new game I just want it to work out of the box, I don't want to have to wait for the next driver or the next CAP. Even when I do wait sods law always seems to dictate that the game I really like doesn't ever get fixed. Then because it's not the "new game" that everybody else is playing and the "noise" dies down for ATI they just fix the "new game" out and don't fix the old.

Next purchase is going to just be the fastest "single" card I can buy.

From the last few games I've bought, lets check did CFX worked out of the box:-

Shift 2 : NO
F1 2011 : NO
Skyrim : NO
Battlefield 3 : NO
Deus Ex : NO

rubbish :(

Being an old snaggley toothed PC enthusiast I'm gonna vote with my feet, ATI I've just had enough!!!

If anybody from OcUK reads this post please convey this to ATI, I've been buying PC hardware for the longest time but I've just had my fill now of their product and rubbish drivers.

To add to the comedy of ATI/AMD they are hinting to some sites that their next top end single GPU card the 7970 will cost $500+. They can keep dreaming ...So in UK terms that will be £400-450 with rip off Britain and retailers price gouging to add.. Hate to see the price of their dual GPU 7990 .. £999.99 anyone and we thought the 5970 was expensive at the £500 mark and the 6990 at £600+ but only till recently did the 6990 start costing £600 and were priced around £700+ again thanks to retailers price gouging, they are taking the micky really.

What I stated in the thread below may turn out to come true it seems.. But maybe AMD/ATI is trying to save face after the CPU Bulldozer mess and really bringing out a powerful GPU, but they are going to make us pay threw the nose for it. If they do a minor speed bump with the new architecture and a more power efficient GPU as I predicted then they really are taking the micky and making us pay for a manufacturing process change that is costing them a lot of money to even make working GPU cores and their redesigned new architecture.

I'm not buying a single GPU from them for that price with their flaky drivers they can keep dreaming, that is Nvidia money and the only reason we purchased AMD/ATI was they were good value for money for the performance and we lived with the headaches of their drivers because we thought well it was cheaper and we have to expect some issues sometimes.

The sometimes issues have recently in the last year turned into a full time issue even with people running single GPU ATI/AMD cards all thanks to their driver team that don't have a clue what they are doing.

Ohh well.. seems the good times are over for the pc enthusiast and to add to the headaches the hard drive prices are at an all time high and I do hope after the floods and they get manufacturing up and running again the prices come back down to what they were or it will be ridiculous to have to pay such a high price for storage. Yes I know currently due to low stocks prices need to stay high but once stocks are back up to normal levels I hope retailers and manufacturers don't take the micky out of us and try to keep the prices high or we will be shopping around more and looking at other retailers and manufacturers for our storage needs.

Also Blu-ray storage is still silly prices and they need to fix that too and they even now have BDXL drives but where is the media ? When you do find BDXL media it has eye watering silly prices attached to them and same for their BDXL drives that are good. We live in a world of large data files now and they really need to get real about how they price their writers and media. Only reason I have not even gone Blu-ray yet is the price of their media and I really want the BDXL drives and use BDXL media.

I thought driver cleaner was considered a no go these days?

I haven't owned an ATi card for years but do you really still have to go through all this rigmarole just to update drivers?

With Nvidia it's just a case of download drivers then install drivers over the top, you even have the option to do a clean install if you want.
I have an ATI card and I just install the new drivers over the old and never have any major problems. In my experience it's faffing about with things like driver cleaner that cause problems.

I've been PC gaming since the Gefore 256 pro days. Was Nvidia all the way to the Gefore 4 and changed when the almighty ATI 9800 pro came out and stayed with them until the 4850. Dipped my toe back in to nVidia territory for the GTX260 but quickly came back to ATI for the 5850. My next card will probably be an ATI 7xxx series.

I still have the nVidia GTX260 in my sons gaming PC and to be honest it's always having some kind of issue with games, nothing major but it has been a lot more trouble than the ATI machine. So I'm not quite sure why nVidia fanboys feel the need to wax lyrical about their flawless drivers, it just isn't true.

Both brands have their good points and bad points, if one was perfect they'd corner the market and there wouldn't be any competition would there? Fact is they are both very competitive with each other and it's good for all of us.

Thats exactly what I did when I bought my 5870.

Stick to single cards, far less hassle.

I love my CF 5850's.

First time I have used 2 cards but so far I have had no real issues (other than heat and needing a new PSU). The 2nd card for £85 was the best upgrade ever.

BF3 is running silky smooth atm with 11.11 and the 11.8 cap2.
