ok dog chewed thru cable from router to pc so putting a new head on ..
i'ver tried it 8 times and only get 2-4 mb .. the other 3 pc's are hittin 50mb with speed test
what I'm I doing wrong ?

really starting to do my head in
 
yes in all the way... stranded cables

could it be the case I went for cheap heads ?
tried to find the ones were you could pass the wire straight thru couldn't find em .. :(

If you miss wire it you'd expect to either get no connection all or a connection that's limited to 100Mbps.

A 100Mbps limit isn't going to cause the problem you're seeing.

Is there something special about this cable that makes it worth re-terminating?

Can you swap cables about to test the dodgy cable on one of the PCs currently hitting 50Mbps?
 
If it's an issue with the PC you need to find out if it's a hardware or a software (more likely) problem.

Try Windows Safe Mode and/or booting into a Linux Live environment. If you get full speed with either approach you'll know it's a software problem.
