cat 6.3 install problems

Hi....i'm having problems installing the latest catalyst 6.3 drivers, every time i install them...two unknown devices show up in device manager, reading on the correct install sequence ....ati suggests first putting the wdm driver on, then the 6.3, i have done this and always pops up before the end saying new hardware found, but cannot find the software to install used driver cleaner to remove everything..but still keep getting the same problem..those two damn unknown devices....any suggestions...as to what i am doing wrong?? i'm running windows xp64 /sapphire x1900xtx btw.

Hi..thanks for the reply, yes it's the full package i downloaded, everytime i choose the folder the files have installed too...it says it can't find the correct file, getting rather frustrated with it now.

Hi...the install goes fine, until you have to reboot the system, then upon loading..throws up the box with new hardware found...but when you scan for the drivers it doesn't recognise them, even when manually directing it to the folder, think you may be right about it being windows xp64, can any xp64/ati users confirm this ?

Same prob here too... Ive tried various combos of driver installs.. but when you install WDM drivers, it goes straight to the "install complete... reboot pc" screen, doesnt even seem like anything has been installed... get the usual 2 unknown devices in devman.

I have emailed ATi today.. who first gave me the usual.. follow the install instruction..duh!! Suppose they have to do that first...

Must be a prob with the combination of x64, 6.3 cats and the x1900xt... as everything works fin in 32bit XP... I will keep you posted on what ATi have to say...

How can I disable the annoying "detect new hardware" message that appears everytime windows starts....?? Must be a regtweak, or tickbox somewhere...??

Hi...yep you can tell when you install the wdm drivers...that something isn't right, just put xp back on the drive..as the game vivisector was having none of it working under xp64 ..kept throwing up errors, tis a shame as i do prefer the 64bit operating system, thanks about keeping me posted what ati have to say.
