Cat 6.4

problem with ati cards is that you need to update the drivers every time a new game is out.

If you honestly believe that then you must be pretty clueless about ati and their driver program.

I have cli.exe disabled on startup, just means it takes slightly longer opening CCC. I kill the task after I'm done so to me it's a mute point

Yeah i fid the 6.4 drivers really bad, i am getting terrible performance out of my X1900XTX with them, i thnk i might try a earlyer driver, any suggestions for a X1900XTX? which Cat driver will work best?
thanks.

Not sure where you have got that from mate. I have 2 instances of CLI.exe with one using 3.1mb and another 3.7mb
In comparison msn is using 32mb, internet explorer is using 27mb and task manager is using 4.2mb.
When i use the ATi Drivers with normal control panel i get 150Mb use (plus other processes) but with CCC installed it totals over 250Mb. What do you do differently?

thats the one thing i like about the nvida drivers. they are so robust and don;t require patching when new games come out.

i can happily play games like oblivion, fear etc on old 77 series nvidia drivers. but i doubt its gonna be any good for an ati card owner to play with the 6.0 drivers.

Erm, BF2 shadows? That didnt work until you updated to the new drivers on release.

ATi have slipped from the 9800 Pro days, but as I have had a 9800 Pro, 6800U, 7800GT and a X1900XT, im firmly in the ATi camp.

6.4 is a rubbish driver, I couldnt be bothered to go back to 6.3 because BF2 performance was dire. I hope that 6.5 is decent!

Edit: ATT + ATi Tool = 7mb usage, beat that!

To get rid of the one instance of CLI remove the system tray icon thingy.

I install the drivers, setup the settings as per and stop the system tray icon. Thats it.

Is that with the panel open? Because if its not, you've got a problem. IIRC the last time I checked it used 16mb ish
