Hi all

Our house is wired with CAT5E, however putting some additional runs in, so may as well use CAT6 for those
Can anyone help decipher the types of cable. UTP CCA etc?
Do I need UTP or FTP? They are just running in walls. Ideally they are easy to terminate

Thanks very much

UTP = Unshielded Twisted Pair
STP = Shielded Twisted Pair

Former is the usual, latter might be needed if running near anything that could cause an electrical interference.

CCA = Copper Clad Aluminium - DO NOT BUY - this is cheap and poor quality that no body should use so make sure whatever you get isnt CCA.

FTP = File Transfer Protocol - nothing to do with cables.
Thank you

What's the alternative to CCA? I assume full copper?
