My back garden seems to be the local karzy for cats and foxes. I have tried sonic ones that activate with a IR beam which worked for a bit... drained the batteries quickly and then even replacing the batteries regularly (at quite an expense, it took 6 AA's!) they eventually ignore it.

Anyone found anything that works?

No keyboards or orbital missile stations need apply.

We've got one of those sonic things which works for the majority of cats around our way apart from the 2 next door.

To ward them off we've found using a mixture of chopped up onions and some chilli powder is keeping them away for now.

Also been advised lion poo works well, they apparently can smell it and know it's from a big ass cat so stay away. I've not tried this myselft but have been told by someone who has it worked.

Oh nice, you use to sell them... any idea if they actually work?

Nope no idea but I don't remember seeing the customers again for the same matter. I always thought they looked fun especially if you forget to turn it off while you're in the garden

Tried everything with cats, they are vermin, from water to chucking golf balls at them even removing soil in back garden and just having grass and flags, so they move to the front.

One day...one day

If you can see the cats when they come into the garden then a water pistol ( those great big ones) filled with cheap washing up liquid and pepper and squirted on the cats fur gets rid of them as they hate it when they lick the stuff off! They won't come back after that!

I had one cat that kept coming round and killing my pond fish as they basked near the pond edge...I didn't want to use the WP as it would contaminate the pond so I eventually netted the cat and held it under the water for a few seconds before letting it go! Funny I've not seen it since!;)

My Grandad (in his 60's) has had this problem for nigh on 40 years.. in the end he ended up covering all his growing patches with poly-tunnels.

Those scarers do look tacky.. You could dig a hole and put some tarp over it with some food in the middle, and catch some cats/foxes.. bare in mind that it should be like 7ft deep so the cats can't get out. Or line the sides with barbs pointing downwards.
