I have 2 xboxs, neither are near the Router.

Can I buy 3 of the plugs that allow Cat5 to communicate through the house power system rather than 2 wireless Xbox adaptors.

Thanks

Google "home plugs" as that it what most people seem to call them. You could buy a pair & then an extra one. If you need all your plug sockets try & get the piggyback ones that allow you to still use the socket.

Errm, presumably you'd need four? You cant have xbox/xbox coming out of one cat5! The router would go ape****.
The router is in the hall, one Xbox is in the lounge the other in my bedroom :)

I might just get one of the wifi hubs i have seen mentioned for the lounge, can connect the HDDVD player to it along with a BD Live player in the future.

Thats what I mean, you'd have a powerplug at each xbox, then one at the router. Wouldn't work, you can't plug two devices through one cat5, into one port on the router. You could technically split the cable off to only 2 twisted pairs, but I doubt the powerplug would distinguish this.

Yeah they can, friend has 4, only one is at the router and all the other plugs can work at the same time, the router iirc just sees the first plug as a switch and hands out IP's to any amount of plugs (iirc)

Thats amazing, wasn't aware of that! Clever buggers eh.

Cheers,
Does anywhere sell 3?

I bought 3 from a place that sells them individually. Competitor though. :)

Google should be of service. :)

Worked for me. :)

I love Homeplug/Powerline adaptors, so much better than wireless and even though everyone says it, I couldn't believe how easy they are to use. Even using them with multi-adaptors/extension leads I get full speed out of mine :)

Yeah, you only need one connection to the router as the powerline adapters use your electric system and act like a kind of hub. Theoretically you could connect as many powerline adapters as your router will allow.

Yep me too, I wouldn't use wireless anymore with my equipment after discovering how great the plugs are. Even my home PC goes through a homeplug.

I use the solwise ones and so far (over 2 years) they have been faultless.
