Hi,

We are looking for a decent CAT5 tester for use on site and around the office. We need to be able to prove cable lengths and signal integrity and so on (We have to supply test results to customer at handover so logging is probably a good feature to have)

I have seen kit from both Fluke and Ideal ranging between around £500 - £1100 which seem to cover our needs fairly well but thought it worth asking if anyone has used this kind of thing and what to watch out for.

Also interested in this.

I've seen a Fluke DTX 1800 in action, which is AWESOME, but they're £10,000 :p

We have to provide a document to the customer which reports the lengths, attenuation etc. etc.

We have used the markings in the past but they are now tightening up on requirements to prevent hassle in future.

Currently have these 4 to look at more closely

1. Fluke Microscanner2 (£420ish)
2. Ideal VDVII Pro (£450ish)
3. Ideal NaviTEK II (£675ish)
4. Ideal SignalTEK II (£1050ish)

Any others I should investigate around this price?
