Hey all,

So I know Excel are a well regarded brand... But in terms of their faceplates - is there really any difference between their £10 Cat6 twin faceplates, to the EssCable twin plate for £2.45 for example? What are you getting by paying an extra £7+ per plate with Excel?!

Edit: Yes have found the twin plates just over £8 each elsewhere, btu what's the ~£5 diff really for, just the brand or is there design improvements?

EssCable - https://www.broadbandbuyer.com/products/22371-esscable-ut-899042/

Thanks

The reverse of a £2.45-for-two-including-the-faceplate module will be a bare PCB clipped to the plastic faceplate, you punch it down a bit forcefully and it falls apart in your hand. If you need to re-terminate it in a couple of years it will break when trying to remove the wires.

It will be the difference between these two modues:

Thanks guys, I presumed there had to be a quality/design improvement somewhere.

I'm helping a family member later in the year terminate a bunch of Cat6 ports round their new build home when it's ready. Just wanted to see if I could justify the Excel faceplate cost over the cheapo ones.

I'll stick with the Excel plates then :)

@Caged do you have a link for the angled tool-free ones you use?

Curious as I've seen some angled ones, but never actually used them or tool-free keystones if they are much easier or not
