Anyone got ball park figures for an electrician to install a cable from a downstairs external wall, up through the roof and down onto the ceiling?

Got one quote of about £400, awaiting for two others

Is there any reason you're not doing it yourself?

It's one of those where it's a pretty simple job but an electrician isn't going to get out of bed for what they should be realistically charging.

£300 is likely the cheapest you'll get quoted from a sparky. It might be worth getting some quotes from local TV aerial folk as they often do these jobs now for cheaper.

400 seems a bit steep, but that will be an electrician weighing up the jobs they could do in the same time, with added money for having to go into a boiling hot loft.

Try getting a price from an aerial installer or smart home place as a comparison.

I absolutely loathe DIY but even I did this job myself. One of those jobs that someone will charge quite a lot for despite it being very straightforward, because they could be getting paid to do more complex things.

Any reason why you need cat6a? What’s the cost of job if just using cat6?

Pretty much relating to various mental health issues and getting really anxious about small things. I am getting better, but not
Up to this at the moment.

Yeah, cable cost is tiny.

Got a quote of 120 from a nest elite installer that I’ve used before. So he’s coming on Thursday.

Electricians will charge a premium as their skill set isn't in network cable.
Aerial people might be worth a try.
You're too far away for me as I'd do it for half what you were quoted.
