Ages ago.. on my dads Passat,

Not sure if it did anything though

His MAF was faulty

I remember seeing it sold on some TV Channel and a laboratory and swedish car authority had said it was good stuff, probably all lies

The only reason I say this is because I have a slightly missfire on cyl 1 (only noticed as I was doing some logging) you can't feel it. Got it down to a dodgy coil pack but not sure how long it's been like that.

Ordered 4 new ones the other day!

I know missfires can cause problems with blocking the cat.

i thought as long as u can pass the mot it's all good

edit: just read that the manufactures have to supply the vehicle with one, but it can be taken off legally after the car is sold

They can block the cat by overheating it to such an extent that it partially melts. Unfortunately, they haven't developed a fuel additive that will fix this yet...
