Catalyst 7.1 performance review

"While the release noted mentioned that a increase would be seen it was for a game that we don’t have, if you are a player of Dark Messiah: Might and Magic and are experiencing some low frame rates on your Radeon X1K series graphics card, we would recommend the upgrade. If you’re a Crossfire user, you should also pay attention to the new features."
Just happen to be playing the demo, funnily enough didn't get time to play it since I upgraded to Cat 7.1, however it was very fast with Cat 6.12 so . . .

Anyone got news on Mr Omega Drivers ? He has been quiet lately and was wondering whats up as he hasn't posted anything on the site. Still using the Omega 6.9's here.

What does no real support for X1950XT mean ?

I know for a fact that the driver installer recognises the cards even if it does call them X1950 series (its only a label after all). all benchmark scores ive seen posted show the the xt always ahead of my pro scores so theres no performance loss.

in regards to omega vs ati, it should be noted they are the exact same drivers, just presented differently and slightly different default settings. They dont support x1950xt any more or less then atis own driver release.

Its absolute rubbish thats going to put potential buyers off, the x1950 XT's are fully supported in the Official cat 6.12's, and the latest official 7.1's, as you say yours is working fine, as is countless other ppl's. :)

1337z0r is that your own experience, or are you just going by what the guy with the XT probs is saying, as he is wrong as said, ive even told him hes wrong, but to no avail. :(

I've seen a few people complain about the x1950xt not being 'supported'

What is this based on?

Only because there not getting the performance they expected is all the trouble i think ppl are arguing about. Probably something in there systems thats not configured right or bottlenecking that maybe causing the performance there experiancing.

At a guess.

ATI said they were supported in the 6.12's but when i used the 6.12s with CCC my card stayed locked in 2d mode.

Whats being used to determin that the card is stuck in 2D mode ?

when the card performs better then all cards below it, thats impressive if its stuck at 2d clocks.
