Catalyst Control Center query

I have a few queries regarding the Catalyst Control Center.

Using the ATI Tool to find my maximum core and memory speeds, it gave the maximum speeds at a substantially lower value than the ATI OverDrive utility.
It said 580 Mhz on both

Yet the ATI OverDrive utility says that the maximum core speed is 594 Mhz and the maximum memory speed is 614 Mhz.

How can there be such a big difference?
Also to be on the safe side, is it advisable to go just below these maximum speeds say 590 Mhz core speed and 610 Mhz memory speed?

My other query is about AF and AA settings.

In order to force games to run at AA and AF settings, should the option 'Let the application decide' be enabled?

I have read the help files and the impression I get is that enabling the 'Let the application decide' option forces games to use the settings, is this right?

Thanks :)

I'm not sure about the overclocking bit. But if you want to force your own AA+AF settings then "Let the application decide" shouldnt be enabled.

I thought as much but I just wanted to check as the Help files don't explain it in an easy to understand way.

I hate jaggies in games and I would personally prefer a slightly lower frame rate.
