Catalyst driver/4870 question

Hi guys

I'm considering an upgrade to a 4870 from an 8800GT and have a quick question regarding driver options. I currently have a 24" monitor at 1920x1200, when playing certain games I sometimes play at a lower resolution, usually 1680x1050 for better performance. The nvidia control panel allows you to set 'do not scale' so that the image appears with a black border to avoid the nasty scaling. Does the catalyst/4870 driver have the same option?

Hope thats clear. Thanks for any info.

Can I do a little hijack? :)

I've ordered a 4870 and I've been considering getting an aftermarket cooler for it... but is it worth it now with the new drivers and/or using fan profiles with rivatuner and the stock cooler?

I would hold of install the card and get the fans set up how you like them see what you think of the temps and the noise. If its fine for you then no need if not then buy the aftermarket cooler. We all have different noise toleration and heat requirements. From what i see the cooler when ramped up to around 30-35% cools the card nicely and the noise is not bad either. This is not my own experience just reading a lot of forums on this subject.

Yeah good advice to be honest. I'll set it up and see how I feel, my case has a load of Noctua fans in it at the moment so if it is about as noisy as them then it'll be fine :).
