Catalyst installation???

Hi all.

Forgive me, I have never owned an ATi card before. Im a little confused about what i need to do when installing the drivers for the graphics card (X800).

Could someone give me a quick do's and dont's for installing cat 6.3?

I would really appreciate it.

EDIT: whats thrown me is the required microsoft .net framework software... What is this? and do i have to install it?

You need to install the .NET framework before you can install the Cats - should be able to get it from windows update iirc.

You need the .NET Framework as it provides common and frequently used 'bits and bobs' that the Cats need in order to work. It's the Control Centre part of the Cats that needs the .NET Framework - unfortunately, I don't think you can use the newer Cats without the Control Centre :(
 
Awsome, thanks for the reply mate. I dont suppose you know if games such as Q4 D3 UT2004, or Serious Sam (any version) will require unstillation and then reinstallation do you?

Also, what software would you or anyone else recommend for OC'ing such a card?

As far as I know, once you have installed the .NET Framework and its various updates and stuff, you shouldn't need to install it again - shouldn't really effect games at all to be honest, just the Cats.

As for OC'ing you gfx card, I don't really have a great deal of experience with that sort of thing but loads of people here do have and will no doubt help you out - maybe have a look at ATI Tool, seems to be quite popular.
