Catalyst Problems??

Hi all,

Operating System: Vista Home Premium 64 Bit
Graphics Card: X1900XT

I have just purchased a Hyundai N91W TFT which has a native resolution of 1440x900 @ 60Hz. I am connected using a DVI cable.

For some reason when using the Cats 7.5 when I select the native resolution the monitor goes blank and says "mode not supported". All other resolutions work fine.
Now if I go back to my XP installation with Cats 7.1 then there is no problem it works fine. Also if I delete the Cats 7.5 and use the windows default driver I can also select the native resolution.

So I think the problem is with the 7.5 cats, However I now have a new problem!

I want to try an earlier Cat version to see if the fault disappears in Vista but after I Uninstall the Cat 7.5's (Thru Control Panel and also using drivercleaner) and the reinstall the older cats my Graphics card is no longer detected and they do not work properly!!!

Anyone got any ideas??

You tried rolling back using System restore ?, could also be a refresh rate issue so with the 7.5 still installed boot into safe mode & either force a different res &/or refresh rate & see what happens

Changing my resolution to 75Hz resolves the problem for now.

Still not sure why I cannot roll back to the 7.4's though. As soon as I install them my graphics card is not found and the driver fails to work.

Anyone know of a good guide for completely removing CATs?

try this its very good, remove the drivers in the control panel, restart, run this program (selecting the ATI filter) then restart, then install new drivers
