Caught a windows scammer

I love winding these people up. Managed to convince one for a brief while we had to ride an indoor bike to generate enough electricity to turn the computer on. And a car accident one - I had a serious crash in a hot air balloon, even got to talk to the manager for this one :D.

I used to think about winding them up, but really, life's too short, so these days I just hang up.

I like to keep the ambulance chasing ones on the line for a while. I usually get put through to the 2nd line scammers with these and can usually keep them going for 10 minutes or so. I tend to make up a story about a really bad accident where I die at the end. Although I've noticed them asking what injuries I sustained at the beginning now so I guess they got wise to it.

I like the "were calling about the accident you've had" it either ends in me saying that I crashed my car into a pet store drunk ect or that i hit a giraffe at a safari park and wish to sue.

What a coincidence I've just had one of these. Exactly the same as the first video. Kept him on the phone long enough to get to the point where he wanted me to run the program they use, then promptly told him to **** off and get a proper job that doesn't involve ripping people off. He replied that it was a proper job and then hung up the phone.

Surely you can write a script that fires up a new browser window with a different porno every few seconds. After all they're calling because you have a virus on your pc

I had one. I laughed, told him I knew it was a scam and hung up. He rang back and asked me how I knew it was a scam. A lying thief phoning back a target who detected them as a lying thief and asking them for advice on how to avoid being detected as a lying thief...in a weird way I sort of admire the sheer chutzpah of that.

I've never had a call like this because I never pick up the phone to numbers I do not recognise. I have 63 numbers saved as spam that seem to pester me no end, but I've never once picked up.

I don't any more. My phone only rings for numbers I've told it to ring for. Everything else goes straight to voicemail. Scammers don't seem to bother leaving voicemail messages.

That was anticlimactic. I was waiting for him to give him an earful at the end instead of just going along with it.

My standard for these is now to say, "oh yes, I was in a very bad crash. Killed 10 people, still, I get a good reception in prison". Usually throws them off, although amazingly some still try to persist even after saying this.

Just had an interesting one, I think it was a scammer. Some guy from 3 offering me a Samsung J3 for £11 a month, don't know the phone off the top of my head but it sounds budget (at least compared to my Note 4). I asked him what phone I have now to which he replied he absolutely knew but needed my security details to proceed. Googled the number he was calling from which seemed to suggest a scammer pretending to be 3. I asked him why I would get a phone considerably worse than my own, he asked what about family members. I told him even my mum, stepfather and probably even my step niece have a better phone - so again why would I take this offer from someone I have no idea if it's 3? Even if he was legit - terrible offer :p.

I've had a few calls from these scammers, the first time I spoke with the guy about religion. I explained to him that as he made his living attempting to defraud others, it was likely his god would throw him into the fiery pits of hell. He seemed genuinely really upset and called me a few naughty words before hanging up.

The second time I just put the phone on loud speaker and asked them to hold the line while I fetch the 'computer owner' and went back to watching TV. Every time they asked if I was still there I said yes just a moment. Managed to waste their time (and mine admittedly) for a good 20 minutes.

Sister in law got caught following Talk Talks hack - when they thought it was a good idea to offer people a free technical health check - cue her getting a spam call purporting to be said check...

They locked her out of Windows, which I was easily able to sort with DaRT, but had her go to the post office to make a money transfer! She was actually at the till when the lady in the post office caught on to what was happening, and ended the call for her (she's a vulnerable adult).

I used to like watching the videos of people catching the scammers in virtual machines, but youtube is now flooded with [what sounds like] pre-pubescent boys who are doing the same thing, so I won't be watching OPs video just in case...

I had one today for the first time. Strung him along for half an hour so he couldn't be calling anyone else.

After spelling out my team viewer password wrong 12 times and then using the phonetic alphabet started to spell G - o - f - u - * - * yourself he caught on and got defensive and told me I'm not allowed to be abusive on the phone.

I got a bit vicious and he hung up.

All in all good fun.

The ones who call about your accident are fun too. I have a long recording of one of those. They were lapping it up all keen when I was asking for legal assistance. Until I told them I was 4 times over the legal limit and a child had passed away in the accident.

After asking me to clarify 3 times they hung up.
